Understanding and improving the Park & Ride experience
Research with both current users and non-users explored how Park & Ride services were being used, what passengers thought of them and what might encourage wider take-up.

AudiencePark & Ride users and non-users in Leeds
ApproachRepeat research with 500 participants per wave: 300 users and 200 non-users
Value to West Yorkshire Combined AuthorityEvidence to refine the Park & Ride offer, track changes in perceptions and satisfaction, and understand the impact of service changes
The brief
- WYCA and Leeds City Council had launched three Park & Ride sites and wanted to understand how the services were being used, what passengers thought of them, and where improvements could be made. This was repeat research, following an earlier baseline wave, so changes in perceptions and satisfaction could also be measured over time
- The research also needed to explore what might encourage people who were not currently using Park & Ride to consider doing so
The approach
- Two questionnaires were developed jointly by WYCA and Enventure Research for users and non-users, repeating key measures from the baseline research to allow comparison over time
- Experienced market research interviewers completed 300 face-to-face interviews with current users at the three Park & Ride sites, with 100 interviews at each site
- A further 200 face-to-face interviews were completed with non-users at sampling points across Leeds
The outcome
- Following fieldwork and data checking, Enventure Research supplied WYCA with the clean survey dataset for internal analysis
- The research provided evidence on current use, passenger experience, changes in perceptions and satisfaction since the baseline wave, and the factors that might encourage greater use
- The findings helped WYCA assess the impact of service changes, refine the Park & Ride offer, and understand how the service could attract new users
