Value to Sheffield City CouncilBaseline evidence for post-implementation scheme evaluation
The brief
- Sheffield City Council wanted to understand perceptions of active travel before implementing a scheme to improve connectivity between the city centre outskirts and Attercliffe
- Enventure Research was commissioned to establish a baseline with people already travelling along the route
The approach
- The questionnaire covered mode of transport, frequency of travel, barriers to walking and cycling, safety, and perceptions of existing infrastructure
- Trained interviewers surveyed a random sample of pedestrians and cyclists at several sampling points
- Fieldwork was completed over four days
The outcome
- 426 interviews were completed
- Enventure Research produced an independent report with a full breakdown of findings and relevant subgroup analysis
- The results provide baseline evidence that can be used to evaluate the impact of the scheme after implementation
