The brief
- Sheffield City Council’s Connecting Sheffield programme aims to improve transport infrastructure for walking, cycling, and public transport.
- As part of proposed improvements in Burngreave, the Council wanted direct engagement with residents living in the area as part of its wider public consultation.
The approach
- The consultation questionnaire was adapted for a door-to-door interviewing approach.
- Trained market research interviewers worked along roads identified by Sheffield City Council.
- Interviews took around ten minutes, with 96 residents participating during a four-day fieldwork period.
The outcome
- Enventure Research analysed the survey data and produced a comprehensive independent report.
- The findings gave the Council clear insight into residents’ awareness, views, understanding, and expectations around the proposed works.
- The evidence will inform the next phase of the Connecting Sheffield programme.
