Value to Sheffield City CouncilEvidence on scheme impact and future implementation
The brief
- Sheffield City Council had previously surveyed residents before and after a pilot 20mph sign-only scheme
- After wider rollout, Enventure Research was commissioned to undertake a follow-up evaluation across the city to assess perceptions, understanding, and what the programme had achieved
The approach
- A local team of IQCS-trained interviewers carried out face-to-face interviews in high-footfall and residential areas where the scheme had been introduced
- Fieldwork included evenings and weekends to reach a broad cross-section of residents
- The short questionnaire repeated selected questions from earlier waves to support tracking and comparison, with 250 interviews completed
The outcome
- Enventure Research produced a detailed report presenting the evaluation findings alongside comparisons with previous surveys
- The research helped assess the impact of the scheme and residents’ understanding of the 20mph areas
- The evidence was designed to inform future implementation of sign-only safety schemes
