The project
Tracking what members need from their College
A repeat research programme designed to measure change over time while exploring the reasons behind members’ views and experiences.
01
The brief
RCS England wanted an up-to-date understanding of how members viewed the College, what motivated and mattered to them, how they experienced its communications and support, and where its future priorities should lie. Repeating the programme enabled changes in attitudes and experience to be tracked over time.
02
The approach
We co-designed an online member survey with RCS England and used cognitive testing interviews to refine the questionnaire before launch. The survey was promoted to the full membership, followed by 20 in-depth interviews to explore key findings in greater detail, including the experiences of members at different career stages.
03
The outcome
More than 4,000 members responded to the survey, with response rates increasing from 19% to 21% across the two programmes. The quantitative and qualitative evidence gave RCS England a robust picture of member experience and changing priorities.
- Evidence to inform policy and guidance designed to better support members.
- Deeper understanding of workplace challenges and the needs of different career stages.
- Clear reporting, infographic outputs, and presentation of key findings to RCS England Council.
