The brief
- IPReg regulates more than 3,500 patent and trade mark attorney firms and professionals across the UK.
- Following Enventure Research's 2024 study, IPReg recommissioned the research in 2026 to update the profession's diversity profile and understand change over time.
The approach
- The questionnaire covered demographics and protected characteristics including gender, age, ethnicity, and disability, alongside professional profile questions.
- The 2026 wave added questions on workplace culture, workplace challenges, and experiences of non-inclusive behaviour.
- All registrants were invited through personalised emails, with reminders sent to non-responders.
The outcome
- 848 responses were received, representing a 22% response rate.
- Enventure Research produced an independent report, including comparisons with earlier findings.
- The evidence provides an updated picture of diversity and workplace experience and supports IPReg's work to encourage a strong, diverse and effective profession.
