The project

Understanding migrant health needs through the organisations closest to communities

A qualitative programme feeding directly into the development of a district-wide Migrant Health Needs Assessment.

01

The brief

Wakefield Council’s Public Health Team and Wakefield Integrated Care Board formed a working group to develop a Migrant Health Needs Assessment as the district’s migrant population and demand for relevant support had grown. Enventure Research was commissioned to gather insight from organisational stakeholders working with migrant communities.

02

The approach

A stakeholder analysis identified around 90 relevant contributors, including healthcare professionals, voluntary and community organisations, government and local government officers, and migrant services. Following introductory contact from the working group, Enventure Research recruited participants to online or in-person depth interviews, paired interviews, and focus groups using a specifically designed discussion guide.

03

The outcome

A total of 57 participants representing a wide range of organisations and services took part. Discussions were recorded with consent and thematically analysed. The resulting report provided evidence on health and wellbeing priorities, current services, unmet needs, and access challenges, supporting the working group in identifying practical ambitions for future improvement.
