The project

Exploring resilience across both primary and social care settings

A national survey examining practical preparedness for severe weather and a changing climate across different types of care provider.

01

The brief

The NHS and Public Health Sustainable Development Unit wanted to understand how prepared primary and social care providers were for climate change and severe weather, and how they could be supported to become more resilient.

02

The approach

A questionnaire was developed with the Unit covering experience of severe weather, its impacts, climate and severe-weather planning, and sustainability. The survey was hosted online and letters were sent to a sample of GP practices, care homes, and nursing homes explaining how to participate. A total of 249 responses were collected.

03

The outcome

Enventure Research supplied anonymised raw data for analysis. The survey gave the Sustainable Development Unit a clearer understanding of how primary and social care providers could be supported to withstand severe weather and adapt to the opportunities and challenges associated with climate change.

  • 249 responses from primary and social care providers
  • Participation from GP practices, care homes, and nursing homes
  • Evidence on severe-weather experience and climate preparedness
  • Insight into how providers could be supported to improve resilience
