The project
Measuring awareness and behaviour around a sensitive public health topic
A telephone survey designed to combine campaign evaluation with candid questions about alcohol consumption and moderation.
01
The brief
Drinkaware wanted to evaluate the impact of Drink Free Days Derby, a public education programme focused on harmful drinking. The research needed to measure campaign awareness while also exploring alcohol consumption and attitudes towards moderation.
02
The approach
A telephone survey was conducted with Derby residents aged 18+ who drank alcohol and lived in the campaign’s target postcode areas. Quotas were set on age and sex. Experienced interviewers made daytime, evening, weekday, and weekend calls so people from different demographics, life stages, and communities had the opportunity to take part.
03
The outcome
Enventure Research coded and themed open-ended responses and supplied anonymised case-level data for further analysis. The research provided Drinkaware and its partners with evidence on drinking habits, intentions, attitudes towards moderation, and awareness of the Drink Free Days campaign.
