The brief
- The GOC wanted an up-to-date understanding of how stakeholders viewed its performance, including its response to the pandemic and wider challenges facing the optical sector.
- Enventure Research was commissioned to gather independent feedback from organisations and individuals across the sector.
The approach
- Thirty 30–40 minute video interviews were completed with professional bodies, patient groups, employers, education providers, government, and commissioners.
- Interviews were recorded and analysed thematically, supported by anonymous verbatim feedback.
- A complementary online survey of GOC business registrants generated a further 147 responses.
The outcome
- Interview and survey findings were combined in a comprehensive report.
- The research gave the GOC current evidence on stakeholder perceptions and relationships.
- The findings supported assessment of regulatory performance and improvements to how the GOC operates and engages.
