The project

Building a clear picture of member needs

A first whole-membership survey designed to turn member feedback into practical evidence for future engagement and support.

01

The brief

Directors UK wanted to better understand what members needed from their professional association in the changing television and film landscape. The research needed to explore how members perceived and valued the organisation, the benefits of membership, and the support that would help them respond to workplace challenges.

02

The approach

We co-designed an online questionnaire covering satisfaction and advocacy, membership benefits, perceptions of Directors UK, membership criteria, communications, and support. Personalised survey links were emailed to members, supported by three reminders and an open link for wider promotion through online channels.

03

The outcome

The survey generated 1,498 responses, representing a 20% response rate and providing a robust base for statistical analysis. We produced a comprehensive report and infographic executive summary for staff and the Directors UK Board.

  • Clear evidence on how members perceived and valued Directors UK.
  • Insight into awareness and use of membership benefits.
  • Practical direction for future communications, engagement, and member support.
