The project

Looking beyond current members to understand growth opportunities

A targeted non-member study designed to identify barriers, motivations, and practical opportunities for membership recruitment.

01

The brief

ARCA wanted a clearer understanding of HSE asbestos licence holders outside its membership: how they perceived the Association, why they had not joined, and what could encourage them to consider membership in future.

02

The approach

We designed a short structured survey with ARCA. The sample was built from the public HSE licence-holder database, with existing members removed and records screened against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service. Organisations were contacted by telephone, with an online option, up to four call attempts at different times and days, and follow-up emails over seven weeks.

03

The outcome

The research provided ARCA with independent evidence on the non-member market and a comprehensive report to support future membership activity.

  • Clearer understanding of barriers to membership and perceptions of ARCA.
  • Insight to support recruitment, engagement, and retention strategy.
  • Where consent was given, interested organisations could be followed up directly by ARCA.
