Challenge
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is the world’s largest nursing union and professional body, representing over half a million nurses, student nurses, midwives and nursing support workers in the UK and internationally.
Each year the organisation hosts RCN Congress, its annual flagship events, where the nursing community gathers to network, learn, develop and debate.
To understand the impact of Congress and make improvements for future years, RCN conducts an evaluation survey of attendees; Enventure Research was commissioned to undertake independent analysis and reporting on the findings from the 2024 survey.
Approach
A questionnaire was designed by RCN, updated from previous years and promoted via email to Congress attendees.
A total of 627 responses was received, representing a response rate of 23%.
Enventure Research was provided with the survey data to conduct independent analysis.
Verbatim comments from open-end questions were read in detail and code frames developed to show thematic analysis and categorisation of themes.
Outcome
Enventure Research produced a detailed report on the survey findings, providing RCN with useful feedback on topics such as reasons for attending, satisfaction levels with various aspects of the event, and equality and monitoring demographics.
The report also included recommendations for suggested improvements to future Congress events.
The research provided RCN with valuable feedback on Congress 2024 and will help it to ensure future events continue to be of high quality, enjoyable and beneficial to attendees.
“Very pleased with the service received, from the comprehensive proposal, throughout their responsive project management, to the insightful and well-presented report; Enventure delivered on all fronts to a high standard.”
