IOSH is reviewing its member networks, currently known as ‘groups’ and ‘branches’, to make them more inclusive and accessible for its members.
A key change to networks is to change the name of groups and branches to ‘communities’, in addition to other developments to make recruiting volunteers to committees more streamlined and allowing networks greater flexibility to operate.
As part of the networks review, IOSH commissioned Enventure Research to undertake a series of focus groups with UK and international members, stakeholders, and volunteers, to gather feedback on the proposed changes and inform the design process for the new communities.
Initially, seven online focus groups were held with a mix of participants. Qualitative thematic analysis followed, with key findings, conclusions and recommendations reported back to the IOSH project team. This was followed by three online workshops moderated by Enventure Research to gain feedback specically on the proposed committee appointment process.
The insight provided has been very valuable to IOSH during the networks review, allowing the new proposed networks to be shaped by members and volunteers and ensuring that they feel well consulted as part of the process.
