The South London Waste Partnership’s (SLWP) contract with Veolia to deliver a range of environmental services, such as waste collections and street cleaning, is due to end in 2025, which provides an opportunity to re-commission these services. The SLWP commissioned Enventure Research to consult with residents from its four constituent boroughs of Croydon, Kingston, Merton and Sutton to ensure these services reflect local needs and are fit for the future.
A separate consultation exercise was delivered for each of the four London Boroughs which utilised a mixed methodology approach. For each borough, a representative telephone survey was conducted with 400 residents, with quotas set on age, gender, geographical area and ethnic group. To ensure that all residents had the opportunity to participate in the exercise, an online survey was also made available to residents of each of the four boroughs. To gain further insight and to explore the survey topics in depth, two focus groups were held for each of the four boroughs with a mix of residents broadly reflecting the local population.
The consultation findings were presented to the SLWP and each of the four London Boroughs in separate reports, detailing the results to the surveys separately in addition to the qualitative feedback provided during the focus groups. The findings will be used by the SLWP and its constituent boroughs to inform decision making on whether they will renew their contract with Veolia in 2025.
